New Ford Explorer for Sale in Athabasca, AB

The big story for 2026 is the new Explorer Tremor, a four-wheel-drive model built for gravel roads and changing terrain (full details further down). Ford also added a new Active 100A configuration, giving buyers the core Explorer experience in a more straightforward package.

A few other changes for 2026:

• New Explorer Tremor model
• New Explorer Active 100A configuration
• New Marsh Gray exterior colour
• Panoramic fixed glass roof with power shade available across the lineup, depending on trim
• Second-row bench seat now available on Explorer ST
• New one-time-purchase BlueCruise options on eligible models
• Updated Ford Connectivity Package options
• New dealer-installed side window deflectors and windshield sunscreen

One change worth noting: the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 is no longer offered on Explorer Platinum. The 2026 Platinum comes standard with the 2.3L EcoBoost.

2.3L EcoBoost Standard on Explorer Active, ST-Line, and Platinum, and also the standard engine on Tremor. Paired with a 10-speed automatic and Auto Start-Stop, and depending on the model, can be combined with rear-wheel drive or Intelligent 4WD. A solid everyday choice for commuting, family trips, highway driving, and weekend use.

3.0L EcoBoost V6 Standard on Explorer ST and available on Tremor. On the ST, it's matched with performance brakes, paddle shifters, a sport-tuned suspension, and other performance-focused gear. Choosing the 3.0L on Tremor also brings the Tremor Ultimate Package along with it, which adds a good chunk of extra interior comfort, audio, and convenience equipment.

Every 2026 Explorer engine runs through a 10-speed automatic. Ford's order guide doesn't have finalized horsepower, torque, or fuel economy numbers yet for either engine.

Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum are all available with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with rear-wheel drive as the standard setup. Available Intelligent 4WD adjusts power delivery based on road conditions and driver demand, and four-wheel-drive models also get Hill Descent Control for managing speed on steep grades.

Tremor comes exclusively with four-wheel drive and adds a TORSEN limited-slip rear axle for better traction on loose or uneven surfaces.

Selectable Drive Modes let drivers tailor how the vehicle behaves for different conditions, with the available modes depending on model and drivetrain.

Every 2026 Explorer comes with three rows of seating. Depending on model and configuration, the second row can be set up with captain's chairs or a 35/30/35 split bench. Captain's chairs give you a walk-through path to the third row, while the available bench adds an extra seating position.

Second-row setup by trim:

• Active — captain's chairs standard, bench available
• ST-Line — bench standard, captain's chairs available
• Tremor — heated captain's chairs standard
• ST — heated captain's chairs standard, bench available on eligible configurations
• Platinum — heated captain's chairs standard, bench available on eligible four-wheel-drive models

The third row folds flat either way. Active and ST-Line use a manually folding third row, while Tremor, ST, and Platinum offer or include a PowerFold third row depending on configuration. Folding down the second and third rows opens up a lot of room for luggage, gear, or whatever else you're hauling.

The new Explorer Tremor is for buyers who want more capability on gravel, trails, and changing terrain without sacrificing three-row space.

Standard Tremor equipment includes:

• Intelligent 4WD
• TORSEN limited-slip rear axle
• All-terrain tires
• 18-inch wheels with Electric Spice accents
• Front and rear underbody protection
• Unique front tow hooks
• Off-road auxiliary grille lights
• Tremor badges and graphics
• Heated and ventilated front seats
• Heated second-row captain's chairs
• Heated flat-bottom steering wheel
• 360-Degree Camera

A Tremor Convenience Package is also available for the 2.3L version, adding several memory, mirror, and third-row convenience features.

• Class III trailer hitch equipment
• Trailer Sway Control
• BLIS with Trailer Coverage
• Rear View Camera
• Rear parking sensors
• Available 360-Degree Camera
• Available Reverse Brake Assist

BLIS with Trailer Coverage watches the areas beside the Explorer and a properly set up trailer, while Trailer Sway Control is designed to help detect and reduce unwanted trailer movement.

Ford's order guide doesn't have a finalized maximum towing rating yet, so confirm the actual capacity for the specific Explorer and trailer combination before you tow.

Every 2026 Explorer includes the Ford Digital Experience with a 13.2-inch centre touchscreen, featuring:

• Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play
• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Pinch-to-zoom
• 911 Assist
• Ford Power-Up software updates
• First-row and second-row USB ports

You get full access to Google's suite right through the vehicle, along with wireless compatibility for both Apple and Android phones. Available Ford App features also let owners remotely start, lock, or unlock the Explorer, locate the vehicle, and check its status once connected services are activated.

The 2026 Explorer comes with an initial period of Ford Connectivity Package access included, covering:

• 5G connectivity for the Ford Digital Experience
• Unlimited Wi-Fi hotspot
• Audio and video streaming
• Web browser
• Video conferencing
• Voice assistant
• Entertainment apps

A one-time-purchase option is also available, which can extend Ford Connectivity Package access for up to seven years on the original vehicle. Connected services require activation and depend on cellular network coverage, vehicle equipment, and continued service availability.

Every 2026 Explorer comes with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which includes:

• Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go
• Lane Centering
• BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, Exit Warning, and Trailer Coverage
• Lane-Keeping System
• Evasive Steering Assist
• Intersection Assist
• Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Detection
• Rear Cross-Traffic Braking
• Rear parking sensors
• Rear View Camera
• Speed Sign Recognition
• Automatic high-beam headlamps

ST-Line, Tremor, ST, and Platinum all step up to Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, which adds a 360-Degree Camera, front parking sensors, Reverse Brake Assist, and Predictive Speed Assist.

These systems assist the driver, not replace attentive driving or proper control of the vehicle and trailer.

BlueCruise is available or equipped on select ST-Line, Tremor, ST, and Platinum models, allowing hands-free driving on compatible sections of divided highway while a driver-facing system keeps an eye on driver attention.

Availability depends on model and engine:

• ST-Line can be ordered with the required BlueCruise hardware and a service plan
• 2.3L Tremor requires optional hardware plus a selected access plan
• 3.0L Tremor comes with BlueCruise hardware and an initial trial included
• Explorer ST comes with BlueCruise hardware and an initial trial included
• Explorer Platinum includes an initial BlueCruise access period

One-time-purchase access is available on eligible configurations. The required hardware has to be selected up front — vehicles built without it can't gain BlueCruise functionality later through a software purchase alone.
